Takwata Builders LP (TKBT) is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks projects.
TKBT was developed to serve mines and large-scale construction projects within their traditional territory.
Takwata Builders owns and operates a large fleet of earthwork equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. Our senior personnel have extensive resumes in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, ponds and ditching, and any earthworks project big or small.

Job Summary/Key Responsibilities Include:

• Fine Grading.
• Safe operation of a grade.
• Perform daily housekeeping of equipment.
• Operate in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
• Perform Field Level Risk Assessments prior to performing work.
• Conduct pre-operation checks of equipment.
• Complete daily logs and daily reports on delays, production, and safety issues as applicable.
• Identify, report, and correct hazards.
• Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Punctuality.
• Responsible for equipment checks and informing mechanics and supervisors of mechanical problems with the equipment.
• Be able to identify, report, and correct hazards on site.
• Understand the issues involving ground disturbance and ability to work in and implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment.
• Other related duties and tasks as required.
• Exemplify good safety practices and protocols.
• Raise, lower, manipulate attachments using manual and hydraulic controls.
• Responsible for communicating any information changes to the Human Resource Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum of two (2) years’ Finish Operating Experience.
• Must have experience in fine grading.
• Capable of operating to finish grade and depth specification.
• Knowledge of grade stakes and job specs.
• Experience operating John Deere equipment considered an asset.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines for construction sites.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication (English) and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and in a safe manner.
• Ability to cope with production pressures and prioritise safety.
• Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
• A complete understanding of proper grader control operation.
• Willing to learn and take direction.
• Must be able to communicate well with all site personnel and co-workers.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
• Able to work rotation and camp site job.
• Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, uneven terrain, and varying conditions).
• Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. • Ability to operate, sit, or stand for long periods.
• Able to ascend and descend equipment throughout the shift.
• Able and comfortable with repetitive tasks. • Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
