Who are we?
Takwata Builders LP (TKBT) is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks projects.
TKBT was developed to serve mines and large-scale construction projects within their traditional territory.
Takwata Builders owns and operates a large fleet of earthwork equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. Our senior personnel have extensive resumes in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, ponds and ditching, and any earthworks project big or small.

Job Summary/Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Load, unload, and identify construction materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations.
  • Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Ensure all safety standards are met by ensuring all work is done in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments prior to performing work.
  • Identify, report, and correct hazards.
  • Punctuality.
  • Operate in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
  • Clean and stack salvaged material to a safe standard.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area.
  • Identify faults and troubleshoot as required.
  • Coordinate with other team members and supervisor on site to meet shift deliverables.
  • Perform various manual tasks (physically demanding job).
  • Tailings and reclaim line insulating and maintenance (if applicable).
  • Complete projects within allotted period.
  • Climb to heights and conduct work with proper safety restraints.
  • Dig pits, trenches, and foundations in preparation for the job site construction.
  • Operate heavy machinery, including light vehicles.
  • Identify utility lines.
  • Perform setup and cleanup tasks at job site.
  • Backfill trenches and pits when necessary.
  • Perform labor support as needed for specialty crew.
  • Assist maintenance of construction equipment and vehicles when required.
  • Remove trash and drop at waste management facilities.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Working in and around heavy equipment.
  • Rake, shovel, walking on slopes, and uneven terrain for long periods of time (includes preparation of slopes for liner).Responsible for communicating any information changes to the Human Resource Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).
  • Responsible in ensuring proper training and sign off before operating any equipment.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of G2 Driver's license (or equivalent).
  • Experience in operating heavy machinery, including light vehicle on construction site considered an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of construction and practical experience with tools.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills (English).
  • A good understanding of safety procedures.
  • Great hand, eye, and foot coordination.
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible and adapt to different ways of doing things.
  • Able to work under pressure while understanding and following safety regulations.
  • Positive attitude and great interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work rotations and camp site job.
  • Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, uneven terrain, and varying conditions).
  • Able to work substantial hours in field walking, standing, sometimes on uneven terrain.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines for construction sites considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and in a safe manner.
  • Ability to cope with production pressures and prioritise safety.
  • Able and comfortable with repetitive tasks.
  • Lifting/carrying heavy equipment (50-100 lbs), and able to know when to ask for help.
  • Able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation and be fit for duty.
  • Able to follow safety protocols.
  • Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
