Job Title: Assistant to the CEO
Location: Cochrane Public Library, 178 – Fourth Avenue, Cochrane, Ontario
Supervisor: Chief Executive Officer
Salary: As per Collective Agreement
Benefits: As per Collective Agreement
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week as scheduled.
Job Summary:
Assists and supports the C.E.O. in the overall
supervision and operation of the Cochrane Public Library. This person provides
convenient, accessible library and information services to the community and
manages the library collection. Reports directly to and takes direction from
the C.E.O.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-Secondary Library Technician Diploma, or equivalent. (ex. related Post-Secondary Diploma, SOLS Excel Certificate)
- Post-Secondary Business Management/Accounting, Communication, or Marketing/Advertising Degree or Diploma or equivalent. (example management, bookkeeping, marketing courses or experience)
- Four (4) years related library information services experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. (French language skills are considered a strong asset).
- Proficient computer skills in integrated library system, as well as with the Microsoft Office Suite which includes Word, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook.
· Proficient with electronic devices, e-Readers, e-Resources, and other computer related trouble shooting experience.
· Proficient with online purchasing transactions and tracking orders.
· Knowledge of Authors and published material.
· Strong mathematical skills
Necessary Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Ability to assist in managing a library collection, a thorough understanding of the current automated library system and a proficiency in the use of electronic devices and resources.
- Ability to collect, prepare and maintain reports, statistics, maintain financial controls, procedure manuals, records, and correspondence.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with library staff, the public, community/municipal agencies, and external service providers for the overall operation of the Cochrane Public Library and its services.
- Proficiency in the use, knowledge and understanding of integrated library systems.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to carry out job functions with flexibility, creativity, and initiative.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times, perform the supervisory role.
· Physical ability to perform job duties.
- Knowledge of the Public Libraries Act.
